merapi formed a Joint-Venture to further increase its Jatropha-Plantations
in Lombok
to 500ha in 2007. Furthermore, we are currently developing projects for new
Jatropha plantations all over Indonesia, e.g. Sumbawa, Sumba or Malukku Island with
a total size of more than 10,000ha.
Jatropha plantations are an ideal investment opportunity promising
high returns while
being ecological (reforestration of waste land) and sustainable (offering jobs for local
people). Furthermore, shares in a plantation can help renewable energy producers to
hedge vegetable oil prices and to secure long-term supply of vegetable oil at an
attractive price.
